for the consideration of our dear plume

there is a dear friend we have both been acquainted with of late - and her feathers have been ruffled lately. i was thinking of her when i came across these lovely plumaged goodies. umberdovely, i know you will agree with me when i say that our jsl's feathers are elegant indeed and if we could, we would flap our own wings right on over to her cage and make her come play with us.

For your consideration, our Noisy Plume~

  1. I have of late fallen in love with the idea of "plumage;" this adornment of self with beauty not for the purpose of vanity or greed, but in order to feel truly beautiful (and lord knows we all need to feel that sometimes!), unique and worthy.

By the way, my friends (Plume, M, this applies to you too) what bird would you be if you could stretch your winds and lift to the sky?

  2. OH this question?!! I need some thinks...will get back to ya.

But yes, the feather is enchanting me of late as well - adornment for adornment's sake...for all things beautiful and free - cheers to that.

  3. ...girls, that REALLY is my mission statement. To wear beautiful things and to be attracted to beautiful things simply for the sake of feeling pretty and unique.

    Exactly.

Thanks so much for thinking of me with this plume post. I've been on the feathered hunt on Etsy as well and snaggled up some feather earrings, a feather hair piece AND the feather skirt (in black) that you featured in this VERY POST! Imagine that. I bought it on Monday and am expecting it in my mailbox today:)

As for what bird I would chose to be, well this changes daily. I'd choose one of the following, depending on the day:
    1. Whitewing Dove (sounds like she's singing baby oooh baby oooh baby oooh).
    2. Redwing Blackbird (gymnastic in their flight).
    3. Titmouse.
    4. Chickadee (cute as a titmouse).
    5. A lark (of any persuasion).
    6. Snow goose (because they mate for life).
    7. Swan (for the days when I don't stumble).
    8. A Purple Male Peacock (yes, they come in purple).
    9. Cuckoo (for obvious reasons).
    10. A magpie (attracted to shiny things I am).

    XO
    Thanks for the pick-me-up!

  4. Oh yes, well this is where my new-found fascination with birds does me ill - i simply have very limited (though ever increasing) knowledge of birds and their kinds and the ones to whom i relate.

so off the top of my head:
    1. Owl (i love the night and love to be hidden).
    2. Pileated Woodpecker (for that streak of red on the top)
    3. Swallow (for the fearless soaring)
    4. Sparrow (mainly b/c of Neko Case "maybe sparrow..."
    5. Osterich. (b/c i would totally bury my face in the sand if i could).

    :)

  5. Fabulous, here is my list:

    1) Raven - one of the most intelligent birds, a survivor, with the most beautiful, haunting knocking call.

    2) Tree Swallow - busy little birds, always feathering their nests with perfect chosen blades of grass and bent twigs, living deep inside the trees.

    3) Magpie - yeah, the shiny-ies always get me.

    4) Sand Hill Crane - tall with a mix of grace and clumsiness, and so Asian (I'm totally an egg - white on the outside, yellow on the inside, hehe)

    5) Black-Neck Stilt - long legs running through the surf, bobbing about, dashing around in groups and bird-giggling.
