Custom Work from The Noisy Plume

If our dear readers haven't picked up on it yet, we not only LOVE plume's work, but adore her blog , her photography, and her person.  Though we have the pleasure of calling her friend, we also recognize her meticulous craftsmanship and soul-filled artistry poured into each piece.

I had a custom necklace made for my sister for her birthday, and I couldn't be more happy with it!  She worked closely with me (about 11 emails exchanged) to get a feel not only for the piece I wanted, but for the person who would be wearing it.  A small part of my sister's soul is now seeded in this heirloom peice, which she can bequeath to her (soon to be born) daughter.  I just had to show it off here:

the iPhone thank you from my sister...so perfect on her.

I hope you'll snag up a peice of her one-of-a-kind jewelery as soon as you can,

the deer portrait

I sure wish there were a person in my life who collected skeletons and bones and was fascinated by deer heads and buffalo antlers (do buffalo have antlers?!).

Tell me, Umber.
Do you know such a lady?

If so,
they {she} will be requiring this into their {her} (no doubt eclectic and bohemian) wardrobe.

Come on! You've been such a good girl...:)

a white christmas: dreams do come true

merry christmas my lovely friend and all who view! we have been under a burdensome and beautiful blanket of snow here in seattle for over a week now, as you well know...and such intense weather calls for some intense drainage on a gal's wardrobe. One must go for warmth and practicality and boots that actually keep your feetsies dry!

I have been dreaming in white...i dream of these boots...i dream of this peafowl necklace!
(i know you just clicked to buy it for me, but it's already sold...keep tryin!)

i dream of this zig zag hat

i dream of such bold vintage earrings.

i dream of this oatmeal drop stitch scarf...

i dream of such a coat!

i dream of cashmere white bjork (is it the hat or the name?!)

i dream of this adorable bedside owl bequeathing me the warmest of light by which to keep my nighttime vigils. (it may be approaching 3am as i write this).

i dream of these legwarmers

who doesn't dream of an LED jesus?

i dream of olden days wherein a lady never left the house without her hat and gloves.

i dream of this lovely cardigan house sweater

sigh.
perchance to dream...

in praise of gratitude

As my favorite holiday of the year approaches on Thursday, I have many things on my to do list:

  • make place cards for dinner (a watercolor nightmare that i will not give up on!)
  • buy wine
  • find a thanksgiving reading to ponder
  • make my gratitude list
    • And last, to enter "gratitude" into etsy and see what kind of goodies are being made especially for us to grab our thankfulness by the proverbial balls and demand some contentment, damn it.

      Graphic. I know.

But sometimes a girl must ferociously pursue what continues to elude her...

      the gratitude necklace

these gorgeous thank-you cards in a color that a certain someone finds a bit irresistible these days...

the gratitude bag - what an adorable idea for a gift bag!

this may be a little sneak-peek into my aforementioned gratitude list, but there is sometimes when all i can do is journal...and i am thankful, oh so thankful, for blank pages in pretty books that contain all my cross thoughts.
      they contain the ugliness
so i no longer have to

it's kind of a crappy deal for them, being so pretty and all...
this gratitude ecofriendly journal would do the trick.
      {perhaps it would only contain all my contented thoughts...and though small at first, as with any seed, with nurturing...would grow}

and while we are on the subject of writing...there is nothing like a good pen to start {and quickly end if it's bad} a good scribble session. i have a most lovely pen, and perhaps it needs a new home in this adorable fall case.

i thank you for a lovely year of friendship, frolics, and frivolity.

things that remind me of you

in my internet sojourning, i continually stumble upon things that remind me of you...certain little wisps of things that seem to be made of the same soul stuff as you. [unfortunately, some of these items found on etsy are sold because i have been compiling this list for some time!]

i can see you sauntering down to our tea shop in this little day dream dress:

one of the first things that intrigued me about you and your art is your fascination with the cycles of life. i love the strange bone collections on display in your house and thought this would be just perfect for around your neck: the pterodactyl necklace.

This loop redwood and buttercup ring seems like the perfect extension of your love and identification with redwoods.

In fact, I found quite a few "redwoody" things that share your song.

I see you fluttering about your studio with happy and somber purpose, nourishing your soul and giving a rare and beautiful show to others in the process...perhaps wearing something unassuming and comfy as this hummingbird tee:

In these cold months, we are privileged enough to live in a place that actually benevolently gives us weather! With weather comes accessories! This hooded scarf and sally green coat belongs with you:

I love stumbling across you all over the internet,

      Wednesday's Webular Wanderings

i have been ALL OVER the interwebs today.
This is in an effort to stay awake at my desk.
I am completely using you to stave off my boredom.
But that's totally not the point.
      Totally.

      ANYWAY.
I have been everywhere, and found many things to share with your lovely eyeballs.

      Wednesday's Webular Wanderings
I would love to make a trek to Madison Park to visit this store.
(Dude. We could totally walk there...depending on which shoes we were wearing. of course.)I thought of you with their vintage textiles (you are addicted. admit. now).
i though of me sitting at this desk and imagined all the writing my future life will entail. "right?!!," kelly says boldly. "right," candace says meekly.

the vintage bucket lamps! gorgeous display.

yes, i think we must make a trek soon.

      in other wednesday's wanderings...
i stumbled upon two new design blogs i found rather intriguing. the first one was introduced to me via victoria's blog at sf girl by the bay (which you introduced me to way back when!..okay, so it was like 6 months ago..still.) mrs. french is a guest blogger for victoria and has her own blog called bliss.
bliss is a delightful little blog and i had success in wasting many hours perusing the happy finds of her visual eye. specifically, in today's blog, she did a home tour of a portland shop owner and it inspired me with my annoying shelves in the entryway. (you know the ones!) i loved the interview because at one point, Stephanie Sheldon said, " And I think people have to remember to take their time when creating their home. Again, it's about being deliberate and thoughtful about your choices. It's when you have it finished today that your house ends up looking like a Pottery Barn catalogue. It's hard to wait for the perfect piece to come along but it's totally worth it." This really stuck with me.

i love the shelf on the left. it looks eclectic but still thematic...i am missing this in my decorating.
isn't it just perfectly arranged and interesting?
i liked her blog a lot...she features a "i heart monday" entry every monday where she highlights her internet wanderings.

the second blog i found was knack.
i was specifically drawn to this entry of a dynamic and interesting color combo.

it looks like a lot of more good things to come from her.

i found the cutest little inspiration on my many pilferings of favorites on etsy today. i think this is would be perfect in my yellow, white, and black kitchen. that's right...i said black. i wanted to originally do blue, but i think it's more me to do the black and white with a surprising splash of yellow. that's not a bad description of me, in fact!

      anyway.

this piece is just weird and kitchy enough to go right above my sink! it's such a funny reminder!

      wear your crown plaque

and while i was on etsy...well, it always just gets worse from there.

i adore this custom table from micaelarras. it would be so perfect in my living space.

i am romanced by this autumn leaf cascade necklace by kathiroussel

and with that, it's almost time for me to get home.
      come home safe to me.

      Friday, June 20, 2008

friday. day FOREVER of you being gone.

last night, we drove by your house. i said to husband, "joel, i miss kelly." he said..."awwww." lame. but i do.

so i am newly subscribed to dailycandy.com, and they send me emails about seattle and such, it's very great. erin turned me onto this - though she does the savannah daily candy (oooh, new idea. we should totally go to Savannah! you would LOVE it there, it's the most charming downtown city!). anyway, in today's email installment of daily candy, there was a featured portlandier jewelery artist. Her stuff is lovely, but the big deal about her? SHE NAMES HER PIECES AFTER POEMS!!!

Whoa. I was really excited there. But if I were making jewelery, I would CERTAINLY name them after poems.

Oh, yesterday I saw some kitty cats on Craigslist and got so super excited about getting one, gonna start working on Joel for that. I think I will name the cat either Zissou or Huckabee - that way I can call it FUCKabee when it is bad. (have you seen I Heart Huckabees?)

Have you ever seen my parent's missionary website? Well, they have pictures on there - so maybe you want to see? It's my mom and step dad.

While perusing SF Girl today, I found this! I would like to state for the record that I want to be this person - this style. It's exactly what my 30s needs, to go 20s retro!

This entire post actually kicks lots of ass...read the comments. I went to the Noa Noa website, and it turns out they don't have stores in the US, damn America!

I have been aching for some new summer pieces to my wardrobe. I can't get those shorts out of my mind, but KNOW i can find some for cheaper.

So it won't let me grab the picture, but check out this pantry! I am just so over cheap furniture, you know? I want to buy pieces that I will love for a lifetime! This pantry CERTAINLY does it for me.

Well the etsy homepage today was very nautical, so cute...but nothing else to speak of. Maybe it's time I did some treasury finds!
well that was a bad idea. the treasury is super full - still have never been able to get into it.

well i just put about a gazillion new dresses on my esty wishlist - in persuit of that 20s feel. may as well play up the hair, right? some view of wishlist:
well, you can see for yourself.

i took the most fabulous walk today - to deliver some papers. it's the art deco building downtown, just west of the purple cafe - called the Seattle Tower. It was breaktaking! We must go see this lobby next time we are around there. The walk to and from was also rather rejuvenating...sunny but chilly in the shade - a perfect seattle day.

tonight joel and i plan to walk to artemis - the cafe at the north end of bellevue ave. we are gonna have a date. i am looking forward to a nice bordeaux and a lazy night.

tomorrow we are hosting tice and niki for dinner - so must think about preparing a menu for that. sunday we are having brunch at jessica's house, her mother is just so great. we went there last night for dinner- j&j were there too, so it was lovely to catch up. we had some fabulous pasta and very delicious beet salad - lots of wine, a trip down jessica's childhood memory lane, and a game of apples-to-apples - which joel promptly ruined by cheating. i am sure you know his cheats by now.

well, off to lunch. gonna grab a hot dog at westlake center and chat with jackie.
