An obsession: Round Tables

I can't get it out of my mind...I am desperate for a dining room with a round table. I have been tantalized with pictures all over the internet. It's really quite unfair.

Can I have a "things that make me tingly" Thursday?

So as I followed you 'round the web, sighing and oohing and ahhing all over myself, I spied this chair.

And then promptly freaked out.
As in oh-my-sweet-lord-I-want-to-make-a-chair-like-that.

And then I saw these.

I mean, COME ON!  They are the "Sausage Dog 500" chairs, and clearly, I need them!  Also clearly, I need a bigger house so I can justify a mass accumulation of fabulous arm chairs.  I think that Jimmie Martin just may be my new pinnacle of funky furnishings.

Spray paint it up, baby!
I'm coming for you with double barrels of silver.

"things that make me smile" wednesday.

Before I divulge the list I have been sitting on all week.....HOLD THE PRESSES. What I am about to show you is the most freaking perfect amazing idea ever. Especially for book/library/liquor lovers. Below is what looks like a simple, vintage card catalog.

When she sent this to me yesterday (internet maven that she is), the saint's response was, "That is the coolest f...ing thing I have ever seen!"

IT'S A FRIGGEN MINIBAR!

My response?

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday's feature on ApartmentTherapy.com was an installment entitled "Using an old card catalog as a bar." There is even an older installment where the idea was to use the catalog as a wine-cellar. Brilliant!
Now to find a card catalog...wanna break into the library with me?

Sigh. Back to the "Things that make me smile" Wednesday list.
Otherwise known as the "it-hurts-my-feelings-that-something-so-beautiful-exists-and-i-do-not-own-it."

This first entry is from the TheNoisyPlume, of course.
(Did you know I have an RSS feed to her shop so I can get instant notifications of her new pieces? Even WITH that in place, her jewelery gets sold within seconds!)
Prairie Soul Ring
(yes, it's way sold, i know. i spend a lot of time looking through her sold items).

I have so been jonesin' for a spring dress infusion in my wardrobe. This would do perfectly!

It's no secret that I love to write. Friends have recommended that I acquire a typewriter, and although I would LOVE the sound of keys banging out the occasional poem or letter, I feel it would be terribly unused. But then I remembered electricity and I am thinking this one would be PERFECT. (It also matches my orangy workspace).

I lost my gloves. You know. Everyone knows. I found a pair that I love even more! You may ask (not you, of course) why I would want gloves on a spring wish list. I would answer...Seattle.

In the recent rearrangement of our living room, there is a little corner that needs anchoring. I have been wanting a footstool or a bench for it and am loving this one.

Hope you find something to smile about today.

THE Table

This find is 100% attributed to my sister, who sent me the link late last night in an email titled, "this belongs in your home." Well, I simply couldn't agree more!

Remember when the saint JUST said he wanted to put the computer screen (aka our TV) on the coffee table? Well, Teresa found this guy on flickr who combined the OFFI Mag Table with this mid-century modern coffee table!

I have no idea how much either of these pieces cost, but you can bet your boot-ay that i am not going to find out because in my 30(+5 months) years of life, I have discovered this adage:

Money Kills Dreams.
(
you can embroider that onto a pillow)

Wednesday's Webular Wanderings

i have been ALL OVER the interwebs today.
This is in an effort to stay awake at my desk.
I am completely using you to stave off my boredom.
But that's totally not the point.
Totally.

ANYWAY.
I have been everywhere, and found many things to share with your lovely eyeballs.

Wednesday's Webular Wanderings
I would love to make a trek to Madison Park to visit this store.
(Dude. We could totally walk there...depending on which shoes we were wearing. of course.)I thought of you with their vintage textiles (you are addicted. admit. now).
i though of me sitting at this desk and imagined all the writing my future life will entail. "right?!!," kelly says boldly. "right," candace says meekly.

the vintage bucket lamps! gorgeous display.

yes, i think we must make a trek soon.

in other wednesday's wanderings...
i stumbled upon two new design blogs i found rather intriguing. the first one was introduced to me via victoria's blog at sf girl by the bay (which you introduced me to way back when!..okay, so it was like 6 months ago..still.) mrs. french is a guest blogger for victoria and has her own blog called bliss.
bliss is a delightful little blog and i had success in wasting many hours perusing the happy finds of her visual eye. specifically, in today's blog, she did a home tour of a portland shop owner and it inspired me with my annoying shelves in the entryway. (you know the ones!) i loved the interview because at one point, Stephanie Sheldon said, " And I think people have to remember to take their time when creating their home. Again, it's about being deliberate and thoughtful about your choices. It's when you have it finished today that your house ends up looking like a Pottery Barn catalogue. It's hard to wait for the perfect piece to come along but it's totally worth it." This really stuck with me.

i love the shelf on the left. it looks eclectic but still thematic...i am missing this in my decorating.
isn't it just perfectly arranged and interesting?
i liked her blog a lot...she features a "i heart monday" entry every monday where she highlights her internet wanderings.

the second blog i found was knack.
i was specifically drawn to this entry of a dynamic and interesting color combo.

it looks like a lot of more good things to come from her.

i found the cutest little inspiration on my many pilferings of favorites on etsy today. i think this is would be perfect in my yellow, white, and black kitchen. that's right...i said black. i wanted to originally do blue, but i think it's more me to do the black and white with a surprising splash of yellow. that's not a bad description of me, in fact!

anyway.

this piece is just weird and kitchy enough to go right above my sink! it's such a funny reminder!

wear your crown plaque

and while i was on etsy...well, it always just gets worse from there.

i adore this custom table from micaelarras. it would be so perfect in my living space.

i am romanced by this autumn leaf cascade necklace by kathiroussel

and with that, it's almost time for me to get home.
come home safe to me.
