Fall Inspiration

I hate that the fashion world sends us reeling into Fall when we are clinging like hell to our Indian summer. Despite this disdain, I couldn't resist leafing through my Bazaar Fall Fashion issue. What a treat it was...it made me swoon all over Fall once again.

Books AND Fall? Sigh.

I am especially loving the throwback to the 40s. I've started my Fall wish list as a result.
  1. Camel, red, or plumb leather gloves
  2. A cloche hat
  3. New plumb or orange lipstick
  4. These red shoes from Chie Mihara
  5. MaxMara Camel Coat at only $3,000

What's on your fall wish list?

Please Don't Mr. and Mrs Willis

Yesterday, while catching up on my salacious fashion/celeb gossip magazines at the hairdresser, I stumbled upon an issue of "W" magazine that had been turned over. When I couldn't help myself (I am always looking at the front of magazines that some conservative mother turned around in the grocery store), I saw a spread of Bruce and Emma Willis that looked creepy to say the very best.
Juan, my awesome stylist, confessed to having been the one to cover its shame. I was completely fascinated by this point. And oh boy, do I regret it. I suggest never, ever looking at these raunchy and disturbing S&M pictures filmed by the all-American couple. But leave it to "W" Magazine to transform this:

into this:

And I am seriously telling you, even with Bruce's strangely orange skin this is the LEAST disturbing image.

I am so affected, I might even go turn these copies around in my local grocer.
Thankfully, W also gave us these to comfort us in our time of need:

depression chic: spring trends 2009

i was pursuing one of my favorite fashion websites, style.com, and i came across the Spring 2009 report.

check out these categories:
  1. depression chic
  2. geometry lessons
  3. goddess worship
  4. marrakesh express
  5. sporting goods
  6. trash and vaudeville
i think depression chic is ironically close to melancholy chic (which, as you know, is the term i use to define my style). So I vote for depression chic (though trash and vaudeville is a CLOSE runner up, but by name only. upon further examination, i fell in love with the goddess worship).

this shirt dress by bottega veneta is smart and sexy and i think i need it.

this flowing smock by preen is so intriguing.

if my style were as low-maintenance as the i-just-woke-up-and-decided-to-wear-this-sheet, then i would want it to be this sheet by donna karan.

if were aimlessly wandering the summer streets of nice, i would want to be lost in this gorgeous gown by Halston.

consider this part of my last will and testament: i would like to be buried in this (by Max Azria)

take a gander at the collection if you want, but whoever invented the term 'depression chic' seriously owes me some royalty fees.

which collection do you gal(s) vote for?
~happily enjoying fashion from afar,
mme.

p.s. if i were to be cast in a new terminator movie, i would want to play the she bot wearing this!

Bazaar July Issue

So I am a huge, huge fan of the magazine. It's like perusing the internet, only you can be in the bathtub! I hope it's no secret by now that I do almost everything in the bathtub - eat, sleep, drink, smoke, read, cry, look at magazines...

And yesterday, along the other gifts that came in the mail, my Bazaar came as well. I devoured it in the bathtub last night - the water was even getting cold, but I had to turn that last page.

It is also no secret that this girl loves FALL above any season - and especially in fashion. Of course, I hate thinking of fall when I am still thinking of my summer wardrobe, but oh dear, the fall lines never fail to melt my eyes with their sultry, smart, romantic, and intelligent hues and shapes.

It's like fall reminds me of the professor of British literature at Oxford that i was meant to be.
oh the dark tights paired with camel colored mary janes! i feel weak.

Chanel's fall campaign is grabbing my attention because of these gorgeous tights. how unique and still classic. also this cut and color is just exactly suited to me!
(you can see the full 08 runway if you click the picture)
(please excuse the crude tear-outs, but i kind of like it!)
also, Missoni is really catching my eye. They had a fabulous ad in Bazaar and the runway is equally stunning. Such a color combination was surely intended to be worn by YOU!

In other spreads, Bazaar was SPOT-ON with an idea to have a model dance with a designer while donning their couture, but dear me...who the HELL chose Jessica Biel? I can think of a zillion reasons to choose anyone else, but oh the idea!
(you are obligatied to look at the whole spread by clicking on picture)

biel with von furstenburg

Oh to be Jessica Beil - but not so lame. :)

The best spread of the magazine was an Olympic Fashion Show featuring Lucy Lui - who, ever since her role as O-Ren-Ishi in Kill Bill, I have just adored her.

unbelievable pose (click for full spread and info on designers)

can you even fathom this dress!?

if i were to redo my wedding, this would certainly tempt me to walk down the aisle in! oh the neckline!

I hope this inspires your Friday, missy mine. I am feeling fine and praying I will die and wake up in that Chanel dress.

Heaven = Haute Couture.
