Weekly Antler Gathering...

Happy Friday to you all. Congratulations on surviving the grueling shopping of last week's Black Friday and this week's Cyber Monday.  Got all your shopping done? :)

If you are still looking for ideas for me, check out my weekly posts at Antler Blog:
  • Books, Books, Books...bursting at the seams.  Do you like them free of restraint?
  • Or do you prefer ends to keep them in place.

I hope your weekend is frostbitten with December happiness and candy cane smiles.
Or just good,
MME.

Weekly Antler Gathering...

How was your Thanksgiving?  I was hanging out with my sister and her in-laws and we had our meal at Black Angus.  Despite some trepidation about eating at a restaurant for what is arguably my favorite meal of the year, it was really good!  The best part?  Well, I believe it was the controlled portions.  So what if we bought an apple pie on the way home.

Here's a review of this week on Antler Magazine (which, if you haven't checked out this month's issue, you should! I'm in it!!!) :
Make no mistake, I shall not be shopping in any shape or form today.  Do you dare brave it?  Are you one of those people who thrive on the external stimulation or just the sweet taste of sale prices?  I am neither.  Therefore, I know god loves me...for on the 8th day he created the INTERNET and then on the 12th day, online shopping.

Happy Friday,

Weekly Antler Gathering...

Happy Friday, dearlings.  This week has been surreal! I celebrated my first official published writing of my career.  This is due to the gracious and lovely publication of Antler Magazine.  It is my privledge to work with these people and have my name on such a visually stunning publication.  You can check out the November issue HERE.

Here's a recap of my weekly posts on Antler's blog.  It is, as usual, all revolving around my muse: BOOKS.

I hope this weekend feels so good to your overworked bones.  I'm celebrating my 7th wedding anniversary, so I'm sure it will be great.

Things that make me smile Wednesday 5/20

good morning. hope you find some smiles today. here's my inspiration:

"Today there is no audience," print via one of my new favorite blogs: Swirly Girl. She writes a lot about writing and does it so soulfully and honestly. I've loved every entry since I started following.

I showed these udon noodle bowls to joel as soon as I saw them via SoulPretty. How we grinned with the cleverness!

this may be my minimalist husband's idea of visual hell, but how i smile at the thought of such a room! so wrought with memories, color, and age. i want!
(photographer Damien Russell found via desire to inspire)

the idea of writing my weekly letters on such a whimsical, nostalgic, romantic notepad makes me smile indeed.
(found on Reverie Daydream)

Ever since our Emily posted the recipe for these cookies on her ever-lovely blog, I have kept the page open so I could make them. I would say these are guaranteed to make me smile...must get to grocery store!

i am seriously sighing (is that the same thing as smiling?) with nostalgic whimsy at a dining room with all these books! i love the victorian appeal of the room anyway, but add books?!! sigh.

things that make me smile wednesday

it's here again.
hap, hap, happy wednesday.
i hope that my note of sarcasm is detected, for this morning (which is really afternoon) i feel like crawling onto the sofa with my comforter, hot tea, and movies. i woke up feeling very sick and cranky after a long night of computer frustrations and cake baking.

so today's list, the wednesday smiles, it's all about comfort.

(i may have already mentioned this designer, but i LOVE it so...)

nothing can bring a warm smile like an inviting, stylish kitchen.
this bookroom makes me smile as anything lately that has SPACE brings me immense satisfaction

in praise of gratitude

As my favorite holiday of the year approaches on Thursday, I have many things on my to do list:

  • make place cards for dinner (a watercolor nightmare that i will not give up on!)
  • buy wine
  • find a thanksgiving reading to ponder
  • make my gratitude list
    • And last, to enter "gratitude" into etsy and see what kind of goodies are being made especially for us to grab our thankfulness by the proverbial balls and demand some contentment, damn it.

      Graphic. I know.

But sometimes a girl must ferociously pursue what continues to elude her...

      the gratitude necklace

these gorgeous thank-you cards in a color that a certain someone finds a bit irresistible these days...

the gratitude bag - what an adorable idea for a gift bag!

this may be a little sneak-peek into my aforementioned gratitude list, but there is sometimes when all i can do is journal...and i am thankful, oh so thankful, for blank pages in pretty books that contain all my cross thoughts.
      they contain the ugliness
so i no longer have to

it's kind of a crappy deal for them, being so pretty and all...
this gratitude ecofriendly journal would do the trick.
      {perhaps it would only contain all my contented thoughts...and though small at first, as with any seed, with nurturing...would grow}

and while we are on the subject of writing...there is nothing like a good pen to start {and quickly end if it's bad} a good scribble session. i have a most lovely pen, and perhaps it needs a new home in this adorable fall case.

i thank you for a lovely year of friendship, frolics, and frivolity.

      journals and acorns

it's another day in neon paradise here on floor 17.
i have had two cups of tea - one decaffeinated, one not.
i am working on a mocha (which was an accidental purchase from a coworker and she gave it to me) that i cannot stop drinking.
i have ripped a hole in my stocking.
      it's a damn good thing it's my thursday-that-is-friday.

however, in my well-paid time, i have stumbled upon some lovelies i want to show you! you're gonna love this post.
i was wandering around some bookish blogs and found the author keri smith and her blog, wish jar. as i perused her blog, i found one of her books wreck this journal upon further investigation, and a long perusal through some flickr groups, i deduced that this is a journal with instructions in creativity on each page. here are some of my favorite entries.

bring this book in the shower with you

      how to wreck a journal

so the general idea is to reteach the brain about creativity. i doubt my ability to do those assignments seriously, and because of this - i think it would be a great exercise for me. a lot of schools have got on board with this idea and are purchasing the books in droves to distribute as curriculum. fabulous business idea, no?!!

      TOTAL SUBJECT SHIFT.
but another thing i found that i know you would love because you love:
      1. miniature things
      2. felted things
      3. nature things
      4. random things...
are these CUTE felted mini-acorns that i found on knack - the blog i posted about yesterday! she found lilfish studios' etsy shop who makes these sweeties.
      don't you need them?

strangely enough, our friend she also posted about a random acorn find this morning. we can't decide how we feel about it.

we give you the Williams-Sonoma Acorn Pan Cakelet (as featured on apartment therapy).

what do you think? i think i am mortified but cannot figure out why. perhaps if you put cream-cheese frosting on the "cakelets," i will get over that mortification.

      real quick.

happy vacation to you, doves in umber.
