Boooo on the big feet.

Again and again, I come across adorable vintage shoes and equally often I find them made for a size foot that cannot possibly exist other than to make my Norwegian bones feel even more...well, Nordic (read: BIG).

Both in "that-pisses-me-off" sizes.

A Modern Dose of Lighting...

I've been FOREVER on the look out for bedside lamps, and recently came across Modern Dose, a fabulous (albeit expensive) resource for chic, eclectic, and modern home decor.

How about a Macaw lamp?
I would love this little guy on my writing desk, offering a bit of irreverance to my traditional scheme.

(Why am I thinking of Desi Arnaz?)

Uma Lamp

And of course....

Off to peruse more...

Custom Work from The Noisy Plume

If our dear readers haven't picked up on it yet, we not only LOVE plume's work, but adore her blog , her photography, and her person.  Though we have the pleasure of calling her friend, we also recognize her meticulous craftsmanship and soul-filled artistry poured into each piece.

I had a custom necklace made for my sister for her birthday, and I couldn't be more happy with it!  She worked closely with me (about 11 emails exchanged) to get a feel not only for the piece I wanted, but for the person who would be wearing it.  A small part of my sister's soul is now seeded in this heirloom peice, which she can bequeath to her (soon to be born) daughter.  I just had to show it off here:

the picture she sent me when finished

the iPhone thank you from my sister...so perfect on her.

I hope you'll snag up a peice of her one-of-a-kind jewelery as soon as you can,

Frolicking Frocks

For those of you who do not know, this is exactly** the way the new-found country life looks for the Mme. and I. Forest frolicking in fabulous frocks, fraternizing with feathered friends, it's all just another day in the life.

** And by exactly I actually mean slightly, with a little more grit and a little less skin - it's cold out here! But so help us God, we are bringing style to the woods!

Fabulous fashion and imagery from Dear Creatures, found here.

Words to live by

You have hopefully heard of LONNY, the online magazine comprised of the team of former design-bible, Domino Magazine.  In my evening perusing, complete with cup of tea, I came across a page of Lonny with the best advise for the newly relocated (that's you and me, btw!):

"Avoid the urge to accesorize a place all at once, which can lead to a look that feels confided and impersonal.  Instead, add meaningful items over time."

Room of the week...

I am loving this spread in ElleDecor of Daryl Carter's DC Townhome; definitely my style.

It is a lovely combination of new and old...the 1920s couch so interesting paired with the modern coffee table.

I will sit here and write you a smart letter.  What a chair!

Fall 2009 Couture: D&G

There is something so perfect happening this fall in couture.  All my favorite designers are stomping those runways with period pieces, and those happen to be periods of history I absolutely love...Victorian, 1940s, it's all a bit too much to take in.  D&G is no exception to this.  I saw the center dress and absolutely tasted the envy.

I'll take one of those dresses.

I'll take one of those boys (and his jacket).

I'll take both rooms.

While I'm at it, I'll take these four little suits for the vixen-librarian lurking inside.

Oh Valentino...

I'm a bit of a magazine junkie. I do not think I realized this until my recent move and the subsequent updating of many many addresses. One great thing about this addiction is the recent constant exposure to Valentino's fall line.

Such luxury. Such rich hue. Such texture.

Such freaking lust.

Thank you Mr. V, for constantly putting me in touch with my vices.

p.s. Watch the runway show here (click Fall In Motion)...such impressive and moody music choices. A melancholy show at its best.
