a white christmas: dreams do come true

merry christmas my lovely friend and all who view! we have been under a burdensome and beautiful blanket of snow here in seattle for over a week now, as you well know...and such intense weather calls for some intense drainage on a gal's wardrobe. One must go for warmth and practicality and boots that actually keep your feetsies dry!

I have been dreaming in white...i dream of these boots...i dream of this peafowl necklace!
(i know you just clicked to buy it for me, but it's already sold...keep tryin!)

i dream of this zig zag hat

i dream of such bold vintage earrings.

i dream of this oatmeal drop stitch scarf...

i dream of such a coat!

i dream of cashmere white bjork (is it the hat or the name?!)

i dream of this adorable bedside owl bequeathing me the warmest of light by which to keep my nighttime vigils. (it may be approaching 3am as i write this).

i dream of these legwarmers

who doesn't dream of an LED jesus?

i dream of olden days wherein a lady never left the house without her hat and gloves.

i dream of this lovely cardigan house sweater

sigh.
perchance to dream...

THE Table

This find is 100% attributed to my sister, who sent me the link late last night in an email titled, "this belongs in your home." Well, I simply couldn't agree more!

Remember when the saint JUST said he wanted to put the computer screen (aka our TV) on the coffee table? Well, Teresa found this guy on flickr who combined the OFFI Mag Table with this mid-century modern coffee table!

I have no idea how much either of these pieces cost, but you can bet your boot-ay that i am not going to find out because in my 30(+5 months) years of life, I have discovered this adage:

Money Kills Dreams.

you can embroider that onto a pillow)

in praise of gratitude

As my favorite holiday of the year approaches on Thursday, I have many things on my to do list:

  • make place cards for dinner (a watercolor nightmare that i will not give up on!)
  • buy wine
  • find a thanksgiving reading to ponder
  • make my gratitude list
    • And last, to enter "gratitude" into etsy and see what kind of goodies are being made especially for us to grab our thankfulness by the proverbial balls and demand some contentment, damn it.

      Graphic. I know.

But sometimes a girl must ferociously pursue what continues to elude her...

      the gratitude necklace

these gorgeous thank-you cards in a color that a certain someone finds a bit irresistible these days...

the gratitude bag - what an adorable idea for a gift bag!

this may be a little sneak-peek into my aforementioned gratitude list, but there is sometimes when all i can do is journal...and i am thankful, oh so thankful, for blank pages in pretty books that contain all my cross thoughts.
      they contain the ugliness
so i no longer have to

it's kind of a crappy deal for them, being so pretty and all...
this gratitude ecofriendly journal would do the trick.
      {perhaps it would only contain all my contented thoughts...and though small at first, as with any seed, with nurturing...would grow}

and while we are on the subject of writing...there is nothing like a good pen to start {and quickly end if it's bad} a good scribble session. i have a most lovely pen, and perhaps it needs a new home in this adorable fall case.

i thank you for a lovely year of friendship, frolics, and frivolity.

things that remind me of you

in my internet sojourning, i continually stumble upon things that remind me of you...certain little wisps of things that seem to be made of the same soul stuff as you. [unfortunately, some of these items found on etsy are sold because i have been compiling this list for some time!]

i can see you sauntering down to our tea shop in this little day dream dress:

one of the first things that intrigued me about you and your art is your fascination with the cycles of life. i love the strange bone collections on display in your house and thought this would be just perfect for around your neck: the pterodactyl necklace.

This loop redwood and buttercup ring seems like the perfect extension of your love and identification with redwoods.

In fact, I found quite a few "redwoody" things that share your song.

I see you fluttering about your studio with happy and somber purpose, nourishing your soul and giving a rare and beautiful show to others in the process...perhaps wearing something unassuming and comfy as this hummingbird tee:

In these cold months, we are privileged enough to live in a place that actually benevolently gives us weather! With weather comes accessories! This hooded scarf and sally green coat belongs with you:

I love stumbling across you all over the internet,

      Tea Time

It's Thursday, and you know what that means:

      "Its Teatime" print from SeaSprayBlue.

I don't know if it's the weather (that perfect shade of silver), the Senna (the Saint brews a mean pot of tea), or my search for quiet luxuries (and one hour of sipping and reading does the trick) but I have been craving the perfect tea set to serve.

These (gone already - boo) would be perfect for scandalous tales and saucy confessions.

      Above and below from TrixieDelicious.

Not for the faint-of -heart-tea-drinkers (you must be able to put it away like The Saint and I can!) is the work of one of my favorite potters on etsy, Hijacked Ceramics.

And this little sweetness, found by Miss Plume just the other day, the Inquisitive Birds cup.

      Birdy cup from 5PM Studio.

And finally, the Pièce de résistance, the London Skyline Teapot from EstherCoombs.

      Swoooooonnnnnnnnnn.

Mmmmnn, now to find some crumpets!

      look!!

this is too good to be true. i accidentally channeled MissBrigette's etsy shop and she found it for me!librarian bookend print

      OH WORLD.
      can it be true?
      can my dream come alive?

(i am aching for my bookstore like:
a certain redwood longs for rain
a certain raven longs for her evermore
a certain gazelle longs for her west bank).

      let's unite.
      gather hands in solidarity and
      BUY ME THIS. :)
      and breath into my dream.

ode to my (will it ever happen?) yellow kitchen.

      it's 10:40 pm.
      i should be in bed.
so what if i am up perusing etsy because i full well know christmas is just around the corner.

      so what.

here are my dreams in yellow...
      i adore this tea set!!
what a beautiful meal it will be when i bake in this crock ware!
or this happy yellow pot for stew and happy meals?

      one lump or two?
so what if i don't take either?
i know a beautiful lady who takes a splash of cream and wouldn't she LOVE to dish it out of this? she would, because she's a dish!

the theme for my kitchen is happy bumble bees...so think yellow with black/white accents...and MAYBE a cobalt piece here and there. but wouldn't these cups just be so divine?
(i think i am officially committed to riding myself of all mass produced cups this year and investing in hand-thrown or vintage... and in that same thought...
what about these works of art - the chickadee tea set? they would go SOO well!
too bad they're sold. know where i could get some more?!!!

i cannot ever get this because i know she is your obsession, but isn't this vase gorgeous?

so these items will be on a shelf, displayed in all their yellow glory to show my kitchen just exactly who is boss...

      wait.
      who's boss again?

      journals and acorns

it's another day in neon paradise here on floor 17.
i have had two cups of tea - one decaffeinated, one not.
i am working on a mocha (which was an accidental purchase from a coworker and she gave it to me) that i cannot stop drinking.
i have ripped a hole in my stocking.
      it's a damn good thing it's my thursday-that-is-friday.

however, in my well-paid time, i have stumbled upon some lovelies i want to show you! you're gonna love this post.
i was wandering around some bookish blogs and found the author keri smith and her blog, wish jar. as i perused her blog, i found one of her books wreck this journal upon further investigation, and a long perusal through some flickr groups, i deduced that this is a journal with instructions in creativity on each page. here are some of my favorite entries.

bring this book in the shower with you

      how to wreck a journal

so the general idea is to reteach the brain about creativity. i doubt my ability to do those assignments seriously, and because of this - i think it would be a great exercise for me. a lot of schools have got on board with this idea and are purchasing the books in droves to distribute as curriculum. fabulous business idea, no?!!

      TOTAL SUBJECT SHIFT.
but another thing i found that i know you would love because you love:
      1. miniature things
      2. felted things
      3. nature things
      4. random things...
are these CUTE felted mini-acorns that i found on knack - the blog i posted about yesterday! she found lilfish studios' etsy shop who makes these sweeties.
      don't you need them?

strangely enough, our friend she also posted about a random acorn find this morning. we can't decide how we feel about it.

we give you the Williams-Sonoma Acorn Pan Cakelet (as featured on apartment therapy).

what do you think? i think i am mortified but cannot figure out why. perhaps if you put cream-cheese frosting on the "cakelets," i will get over that mortification.

      real quick.

happy vacation to you, doves in umber.
